About a week ago, I took the day to wander around Mashpee Commons looking for some local businesses that cater to kids and their families on vacation. I found some great places…and even nicer business owners! Having lived on the Cape off and on since I was four and in Mashpee for the last six years, I’ve seen a lot of change throughout the years - Mashpee Commons has been one of them! I remember when the Commons had a few restaurants, a couple of stores, and a large grocery store. Today, it has over 90 individual stores, with many restaurants, apartments, and even a movie theatre. It really is a great place to wander around on your Cape Cod vacation.
I’ve been scrolling through some of my favorite photos recently to be better able to offer some advice of what you should wear for your Cape Cod Family photo session. As I looked back through my portfolio, I realized that I’ve been lucky enough to photograph some very stylish families! In the past, I’ve stuck to some basic advice, but I’m hoping to be able to expand a bit - and show you some great examples along the way!
Feel free to only take this as a guide - I always think that your photos are for you and your family, so you really should dress in whatever way you’re the most comfortable! If you’d like some tips, however, check these out:
I've had the pleasure of living on the Cape for 30 of my 38 years, and have gotten to explore it even more as I've shot Family photo sessions all over Cape Cod. It amazes me how beautiful all of the beaches are for their own reasons - The Outer Cape offers large dunes and beautiful beach grass while the Upper Cape has amazing boardwalks and fun locations!
I'm excited to share with you some new changes at Emerald Eye Photography!
Over the past few months, I've been looking at my growing business and decided I really needed to specialize in specific sessions - so, Change #1 - as of 2017, I am officially a Newborn Lifestyle and Family Photographer. If you have any new additions coming to your family, I would love to meet them this year!
I've had the same conversation with the last few clients about how when you live somewhere you take it for granted. Every morning I wake up on the Cape - a place that people come to vacation and relax - and get so wrapped up in everyday life, that I forget how special it can be.
It's hard not to admit that posed newborn photos are really cute, but I LOVE capturing newborns just as they are! LIfestyle sessions allow you to relax and remember your little one as you see them every morning, noon, and night. Babies change so quickly - before you know it they're smiling, sitting up, crawling, and walking. Your newborn becomes a baby, a toddler, a child...
Lifestyle photos can take place at any age - during a Fresh 48 session, in the first two days after birth, during the first month of life as you're all settling in, or even when everyone has grown a bit.
Often times, people are so worried about getting photos done of their newborns in the 7-10 day "magic" window when they are super sleepy and can be posed...but in that first week, you're getting home from the hospital, meeting relatives, learning about your new baby, and trying to find a minute to two for yourself between feedings, diaper changes, and coffee!
Newborn LIfestyle Sessions are relaxed and take place in your home - no matter how old or new your little one is!
I never realized how quickly babies change until I saw a Facebook post from one of my new Moms just a week after being home! It's been awesome to follow along on their journey and see her son growing so fast...
Fresh 48 sessions capture your little ones at their littlest!
