New this year, I’ve started offering First Year Bundle packages for parents who plan ahead and know that they want to capture their new little one in all of the stages of their First Year of life! The bundle package includes a Maternity session, a Newborn session, a session at 6 months old, and a session on the baby’s First birthday….and sometimes, when I’m lucky, I have parents book two Newborn sessions - a Fresh 48 session in the hospital, and Newborn Lifestyle photos at home. This is REALLY my favorite thing because I’m a little bit obsessed with seeing how much a baby changes from the day of their birth to about a month old…Little Natalie was just 24 hours old during her first photos, which took place in the hospital.
The first time I took photos for Melanie and Mike was a few years ago, when they were expecting their first baby. I actually photographed their baby shower and had fun catching up with old friends and seeing all fo the loving people they’ve connected with in their lives. When I met up with them in March for her maternity session, they were getting ready to welcome the fourth member of their family!
And then there were two - nothing changed and everything had changed.
I first met this family a year and a half ago during their son’s Newborn photos. Carolyn contacted me and said they were looking for in-home, relaxed photos to capture their new little baby. I ended up loving their photos so much, that you’ll often see them in my marketing. On Saturday, I got to hang out with them again.
When I first heard from Kara, I was sure she understood my photography style right away! Her family was vacationing on Cape Cod for her parent's 30th anniversary and they were looking forward to surprising them with a Family photo session. I ask all of my client's to fill out a questionnaire and when I asked Kara what draws her to my photography style, I knew we were going to have a great time!
Natalie became a Mom on December 17, 2017, just two months ago, when she gave birth to her son, Finn. He was born via C-section and Natalie remembers the weird feeling of being awake during the procedure - but also having it be so amazing when he was finally held up!
Growing up as a child #3 out of 4, I'm not sure I had a nursery! I know my parents kept me safe and I slept somewhere, but I have a feeling my two older sisters may have had a nicer room than I did as a baby. ;) As a Newborn photographer, I'm lucky enough to see amazing nurseries - especially after a first child is born!
If you asked me, I would've said that this session took place just about a month ago. The summer has flown by and has kept me busy with Family photo sessions, but this little guy was one of my favorites before the summer began!
Not only was he a perfect baby model, but his Mom and Dad were the sweetest - and their house is amazing! Their nursery had great details - personalized blankets, little booties and socks, and sweet decorations.
Confession time - I've had these photos open in a window on my computer and ready to go for the last two months! Summer family sessions have kept me really busy, but I have a little lull until Fall photos start, so I'm hoping to get some of my favorite sessions up on the blog!
Mr. Liam was born in April, had his photo session in June, and, now - at almost five months old - will finally have his own blog post ...shared with his family and big sister of course!
I've had the pleasure of living on the Cape for 30 of my 38 years, and have gotten to explore it even more as I've shot Family photo sessions all over Cape Cod. It amazes me how beautiful all of the beaches are for their own reasons - The Outer Cape offers large dunes and beautiful beach grass while the Upper Cape has amazing boardwalks and fun locations!
Being from the Cape, I sometimes forget what an amazing place it is. There's nothing better than spending an evening on the beach with an amazing sunset, perfect, warm breezes, and a fun family! Last August, this family rented an amazing home with a staircase leading from their porch to a beautiful Truro Beach. Every day was a beach day!
To say this little one is loved is an understatement - Not only did Mom and Dad love snuggling her, but her new big brother also couldn't get enough. When he wasn't running over to say hi to his new little sister with a kiss on the head, he really enjoyed playing with his Dad and having fun!
There is something so special about in-home newborn sessions - every house has different light and every baby has a different personality, but the one constant is that every new parent is always excited to show me their little one!
Cape Cod maternity photos on the beach are so special - soft sunset light, warm winds, and perfect backdrops. Nicole and her husband were on a quick Cape vacation and found me on Instagram. I was so excited it worked out and I could get them on my schedule.
As a newborn photographer, I am well aware that even the best laid plans don't always work out. Babies can be unpredictable and don't always arrive when expected...Snowstorms can get in the way of a scheduled session...or Mom just may not feel up to photos immediately - just about every scenario happened with this little guy, but he is now thriving and healthy!
I'm excited to share with you some new changes at Emerald Eye Photography!
Over the past few months, I've been looking at my growing business and decided I really needed to specialize in specific sessions - so, Change #1 - as of 2017, I am officially a Newborn Lifestyle and Family Photographer. If you have any new additions coming to your family, I would love to meet them this year!
About six months ago, this little guy arrived early and missed his Fresh 48 session in the hospital, but made up for it with a Newborn session at home! He was welcomed into his family by his big brother and parents, and was a sweet little baby. When I arrived for his Six Month Session a few weeks ago, I was amazed to see how much he had grown. I brought a few of the Newborn props we used, but there was no way he was going to fit into them anymore!
When Jen contacted me for Family Photos to help celebrate her parents anniversary, I knew they would be great to work with! There is something super special about watching grandchildren adore their grandparents and seeing Moms and Dads be both parents and children. These little guys were full of smiles and really did LOVE being with their family.
Part of the reason I love working with families on the Cape is that I am always learning about new locations! Even though I've lived here most of my life, and been to Dennis many times, I had never noticed the cute little cottages that Nicole and her family were staying in. Her little boy, Max, was very happy to show me the way to the beach and we braved the wind for some cute photos!
I've had the same conversation with the last few clients about how when you live somewhere you take it for granted. Every morning I wake up on the Cape - a place that people come to vacation and relax - and get so wrapped up in everyday life, that I forget how special it can be.
I arrived at Dowses' Beach about a half hour before Kaitlynn's session not only to just scope out the beach, but to enjoy the sand, breeze, and awesome light on a Cape Cod night.
This little man made his appearance three weeks before anyone was ready - but he fit right into his family perfectly! This session was a little unlike other Newborn Lifestyle photos. We took lots of candid photos of Mom and Dad holding their new baby, and his new big brother interacting with him, but we also got some posed photos and closeups of the little guy.
Even though I've lived on Cape Cod almost my whole life, I've very rarely gone to Woods Hole - unless it's to catch a ferry to the Vineyard! I was excited to get to our session a little early and explore a bit. Not only are there cute little shops and great restaurants, Woods Hole offers amazing backgrounds and beautiful little "Cape Cod" spots! Lisa and her family were awesome to work with and we found some fun places to take their family photos.
Melanie and I grew up on Cape Cod together - We ended up going to the same college and remained friends after school. I was so happy for her and her husband, Mike, when I found out she was pregnant and jumped on board to take their photos!
About a year and a half ago, I met two brand new baby boys - and their equally as sweet Mom and Dad at their house for an in-home Newborn Lifestyle session. I remember being so excited when I received an inquiry from their Mom because it was also my first Newborn session with twins! I always love meeting new babies, so I knew two at once would be even better…About a year after that session, I met up with their family again at Mayflower Beach in Yarmouth Ma, for their One Year photos.
